Jennifer (Einck) Irvine was a four-year standout on the women’s golf team from 2000-03. With Darlene Still as head coach during her first collegiate season, it didn’t take long for Irvine to put the rest of the Iowa Conference on notice. She carded a 168 during her first-ever IIAC Championships en route to earning medalist honors and sending BVU to the team title.
New head coach Tom Bohnenkamp took over prior to her sophomore campaign, but the results were much of the same. Irvin went on to earn runner-up accolades that season with a 165 and was six shots behind teammate and individual medalist, Debbie Zorn.
After placing ninth as a junior in 2002, Irvine’s storied career ended in 2003 just as it started by moving back to the top and earning medalist honors as a senior and being named IIAC Most Valuable Player. The Primghar, Iowa, native, began the 72-hole championships with an opening round of 90 and was in a tie for fifth. A day later, she worked herself up the leader board with a 79 and stayed strong with a third round 82. It all came down to the final round where she tied for the second-lowest round of the day with a 77 and went on to win by two strokes. The team, however, was tied with the Storm after 72 holes and had to go into a playoff where it went on to win on the first hole with a winning putt by Irvine.
Irvine helped lead the Beavers to the team championship in three of the four years along with one third place finish. In 2002, she helped lead the Beavers to an eighth place NCAA Championship team finish. She closed out her career by earning All-American accolades as a junior and senior.
Irvine graduated from BVU with a degree in Finance and Banking and resides in Spencer where she is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. She and her husband, Chad, have four children: daughter, Morgan, and triplet sons, Wade, Trent, and Grant.
