Jerkovich, who transferred to Buena Vista after two years at Iowa
Western Community College, was a two-time letterwinner in both
tennis and softball for the Beavers. On the court, she was voted as
the team’s MVP both seasons, cumulating a total of more than 40
singles and doubles victories. She was an Iowa Conference runnerup both years in each one. On the diamond, she was a key member of the NCAA
runner-up team in 1983 and the NCAA Championship team in
1984. The team also captured Iowa Conference championships
both years, and following each campaign, she was tabbed a First Team All-IIAC and a First
Team All-Region outfielder.
Jerkovich graduated from Buena Vista with a bachelor of arts degree and is employed
by ConAgra Foods in Omaha, Neb., within Info Technology. She also spent time as an
assistant softball coach at the University of Nebraska-Omaha from 1985-89 and was a part of a North Central Conference championship and an NCAA DII qualifying team.
