Jones was a stand-out on the basketball court during his career at BVU.  He remains second on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,831 career points, including a school record 269 three-pointers.  He started 14 games as a freshman and led the Beavers in scoring (14.5pgg), while making 65 three-point attempts.  He also finished second in rebounding (4.3rpg) en route to Second Team All-Conference accolades.  As a sophomore, he again led the way in scoring (16.3ppg), three-point buckets (67), while playing 27 minutes per game, as BVU went 27-2 overall (19-1 IIAC), including a school-record 23 wins before falling in overtime to UW-Eau Claire during the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  During that year, Jones turned in a career-high 39 points, on 8-of-11 shooting from long range, against Simpson College, marking the fourth-highest point total for a single game in school history.  following the year, he was named the MVP of the conference, was a First Team All-Region selection and was a Second Team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-American.  He again led BVU in scoring and three-point shooting as a junior, and for the second straight season, earned First Team All-Conference accolades.  As a senior in 2001-02, he turned in a career-year, leading the team in scoring (19.3ppg), while draining a career-best 80 three-pointers.  Ten of those long range buckets that season came in a game against the University of Dubuque late in the regular season.  He again was named the IIAC MVP, as the Beavers won both the regular season and conference tournament championships for the second time in three years.  One of his most elusive honors followed the season, when he became BVU's first-ever Jostens Trophy Award winner, an annual honor given to the top player in all of Division III.  A 2002 graduate, Jones received an elementary education degree and is now the guidance Counselor/At-Risk Coordinator in the Dallas Center-Grimes School District.  Prior to his current position, Jones was a teacher/coach in the Guthrie Center School District from 2002-04.  He and his wife, Stephanie, live in Grimes with their four children, Jackson, Jaden, Tess, and Taeya.
