Ron was a four-year starter and letterwinner for BVU in both football (1955-58) and baseball (1956-59). Â He was a co-captain in each sport and earned all-conference honors in football, while playing on two conference championship teams in baseball (1957 and 1959). Â He was a four-year starter at catcher on the diamond and was a career .295 hitter. Â He hit his first career home run in his first career at-bat as a freshman. Â On the gridiron, Ron played both offensive guard and linebacker, earning all-conference accolades as a senior at guard. Â During that final campaign, he helped block for an offense which averaged nearly 278 yards of total offense per game, including an average of 177 yards per contest on the ground. Â As a junior, he totaled four fumble recoveries, defensively. Â Ron spent seven years as a teacher and coach at Jefferson Community High School before spending nearly the next 33 years involved in sales. Â He and his wife, Donna (Rein) Mau SL'58, reside in Omaha and have four grown children - Jeff, Paula, Ronnie, and Sara.
