Deborah (Zorn) Crank was a four-year standout golfer on the BVU women’s golf team from 1998-2001. She was a four-year all-conference golfer - finishing in the top-10 all four years - and a three-time Iowa Conference MVP. As a sophomore in 1999, Zorn finished second at the Iowa Conference Championships after a 36-hole total of 168, was named Iowa Conference (IIAC) MVP and went on to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Championships, finishing 11th overall after rounds of 83-79-80-89.
As a senior, Crank turned in a 36-hole score of 159 and captured the individual IIAC title by six strokes. She was named MVP for the third straight year while also helping lead the Beavers to their second straight IIAC team title by finishing 14 strokes clear of runner-up Simpson College. She would go on to place 22nd at the NCAA Championships that season. Crank played in more than 70 total rounds in her career, finished with a scoring average of 84.27, and totaled nine individual medalist honors.
Crank was a three-time Scholar All-American and a member of the Iowa Conference All-Academic Team in 2000. Following graduation, she went on to earn Ph.D. in chemistry at Iowa State University and spent six years working as a fulltime chemistry lecturer at Emmanuel College in Boston, Mass.
