Shawn Olorundami was a decorated track and field athlete for the Beavers from 2006-2009, participating primarily in sprint and hurdle events. He went on to become a six-time Indoor All-Conference performer and an eight-time Outdoor All-Conference finisher with most of those accolades taking place during his final collegiate campaign.

As a senior at the 2009 Indoor Conference Championships held at Wartburg College, Olorundami brought home an individual championship in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.66, despite setting a championships record time of 7.56 during the preliminaries. He also ran the opening leg on the championship-winning 4x200 relay team which set a facility record time of 1:29.22. He finished second by about a half-second behind teammate Eric Bertelsen in the 400-meter dash (50.25) while also taking third in the 200-meter dash (22.63).

During the outdoor championship meet later that season held in Pella, Olorundami was champion in the 110-meter hurdles, 4x100-meter relay and took third in the 400-meter dash. He was edged out of being an all-conference finisher in the 200-meter dash by two-tenths of a second. In the hurdles, he won a tight race by .37 seconds with an NCAA provisional time of 14.50 seconds. The relay team later held off Wartburg by a half-second to also set an NCAA provisional mark of 41.54 seconds.

As a result of his performances, he helped the team to a fifth-place team finish at the indoor championships and a fourth place finish at the outdoor championships.

Following his strong conference championship performances as a senior, Olorundami became both an Indoor and Outdoor All-American. He was a national runner-up in the indoor 55-meter hurdles and placed third in the 110-meter hurdles. As a junior, Olorundami placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Sioux City, Iowa, native remains the BVU record holder in the indoor 55-meter hurdles, 60-meter hurdles and the 4x200-meter relay, along with the outdoor 110-meter hurdles, 110-meter shuttle hurdle relay, 4x100-meter relay and the 4x200-meter relay.
