The 2003-04 BVU women's basketball team was one of the most dominant in program history. The Beavers finished the year at 27-3 overall with a 15-1 mark during conference play and captured both the regular season and conference tournament championship. It remains as the program’s lone conference tournament title.
BVU was the top scoring team in the league during conference play at 82.8 points per game and outscored its opponents by an average of nearly 20.0 per contest. It was one of only two teams in the league to make over 100 three-point buckets in those 16 contests, it led the league in rebounding, assists and assist-to-turnover ratio.
The winning ways didn’t stop after capturing the conference tournament title and earning the automatic bid into its first NCAA Tournament since 1997. The team had the luxury of hosting Carleton College in the second round where it outscored Knights by 12 in the second half to come away with a 69-61 victory. It then traveled to the campus of Thomas More College for a neutral site Sweet 16 match-up with Puget Sound, but the comeback bid fell short, as the Beavers couldn't overcome a nine-point halftime deficit, and finished the year with a 70-66 loss.
Current BVU Hall of Famer Amy (Meggers) Divis ‘04 was among the group to help lead the way that season. She was named the Iowa Conference MVP and an Honorable Mention All-American. For the year, she averaged a league-high 20.4 points per game and was second in rebounding at 10.4 per outing. She also notched a pair of double-doubles during the NCAA Tournament. Fellow BVU Hall of Famer Katie (Maguire) Campbell ‘06 was a First Team All-Conference selection after averaging 13.9ppg and leading the league in assists (166) and steals (64).
Kristina (Kapler) Robinson ‘05 and Kelli (Taylor) Noble ’04 ME ‘07 were both voted Second Team All-Conference selections and each ranked in the top-15 of the IIAC in scoring. Kapler also ranked in the top-10 in rebounding and was third in field goal percentage at over 54 percent. Taylor averaged over 2.6 assists and trailed only Maguire in three-point shooting at 40.2 percent.
Head Coach Janet Berry was named the IIAC Coach of the Year.
