Jim Demers SL'91 was a multi-sport athlete at Buena Vista, earning four letters in both football and basketball.  He was a First Team All-Conference selection in football in 1990 and was also named the Beavers Offensive MVP.  On the court, he played in 98 career games, finishing his career with 277 assists and 108 steals.  He was named the team's "Mr. Defense" for the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons.  His 41 points scored against Grinnell College in 1990 is the third-most all-time by a Beaver in a single game.  Demers is currently a teacher and coach in the Aurelia Community School District, where he has served since 1999.  He and his wife, Patti SL'90, have four children: Austin, Jasmine, Michael, and Danika.
