Jim Demers SL'91 was a multi-sport athlete at Buena Vista, earning four letters in both football and basketball. Â He was a First Team All-Conference selection in football in 1990 and was also named the Beavers Offensive MVP. Â On the court, he played in 98 career games, finishing his career with 277 assists and 108 steals. Â He was named the team's "Mr. Defense" for the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons. Â His 41 points scored against Grinnell College in 1990 is the third-most all-time by a Beaver in a single game. Â Demers is currently a teacher and coach in the Aurelia Community School District, where he has served since 1999. Â He and his wife, Patti SL'90, have four children: Austin, Jasmine, Michael, and Danika.
