Buena Vista University

Melanie (Uhl) Rasmussen SL'98 was a stand-out athlete on the track and field team for Buena Vista from 1996-98.  She was a three-time Iowa Conference Champion in the outdoor long jump, while winning the outdoor 200 meter dash in 1997 and 1998, as well as the outdoor 100 meter dash in 1998.  She was also an indoor conference champion in the long jump, 55 meter dash, and the 200 meter dash.  In addition, Rasmussen, was a nine-time All-American in Division III and was named the 1998 Iowa Conference Most Valuable Female Athlete, as well as the NCAA Division III Central Region Female Athlete of the Year.  She finished her career holding six IIAC records and nine BVU records.  She currently serves as the community employment coordinator at Cass Incorporated in Atlantic, Iowa, where she is responsible for employment and support of individuals with disabilities.  Melanie and her husband, Josh SL'97, have two children: Haley and Colton.
