Jason Evers, a 6’8” center, was a four-year standout on the court for the BVU men’s basketball team from 1992-1996. The Clarks, Neb., native, still ranks third on the program’s career scoring list with 1,678 points. He is also on the top-10 list in rebounding with 716.

Evers began his career as a freshman playing for Jeff Spielman and averaged 6.3ppg and 4.0rpg. His first career double-digit scoring output came when he turned in 15 points against William Penn in his fifth career appearance. During his sophomore season under new head coach Dave Gunther, Evers became the team’s leading scorer and rebounder at 19.3ppg and 9.1rpg. He scored in double figures in all but three games, including 35 points in the second meeting against Luther College. He hauled in 18 rebounds in the first match-up that season with the University of Dubuque and finished the year with 10 double-doubles. Over his final two campaigns, he would push his season averages in scoring to 20.7ppg and 21.6ppg, respectively.

As a junior, Evers failed to reach double digits in scoring just one time and had 16 games of scoring at least 20 points while shooting a stellar 54.8 percent from the field. As a senior, he was named a Preseason DIII All-American by DIII News and went on to score in double figures in all 25 games played that season, recorded 12 double-doubles, scored at least 20 points in 15 games and surpassed 30 points four times.

Evers was a three-time all-conference performer for the Beavers, earning Second Team honors as a sophomore and First Team accolades as both a junior and senior.
