J Leslie Rollins has been considered by many to beĀ perhaps the greatest athlete in the history of Buena Vista University. Rollins earned 12 letters during his collegiate career, the only athlete in Buena Vista history to receive letters in three sports all four years. He was president of Delta Phi Rho, president of the BV Club, athletic editor of the college newspaper, manager of the bookstore and student council member.
Rollins attended graduate school at Northwestern University, where he served as assistant dean of student affairs from 1928-35 and was a member of Northwesternās Board of Personnel Administration from 1935-42. He was assistant dean of Harvardās business school for the next 24 years, where he continued to distinguish himself in academics.
In honor of his remarkable legacy, Buena Vista's stadium was dedicated as J. Leslie Rollins Stadium in 1987.
