SEASON PREVIEW: Men's Soccer to Lean on Experience and Veteran Leadership in 2025

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Aug 26, 2025) - The Buena Vista University men's soccer team has plenty to be excited about heading into the 2025 season with the return of 17 players who saw action on the field last season along with a strong group of incoming first-year players.

Third-year head coach Kelsey Resnick will have the luxury of having nine starters and 67 percent of his team's goal scorers from last season back on the roster this fall. Among that group is senior Kendall Bickford, who was second in goals (5), first in assists (6) and tops in total points (16). He enters his final campaign with 14 career goals scored and seven assists. Sophomore Jeramiah Rediske had a breakout freshman campaign last season with four goals and two assists and finished third on the team in total points (10). Senior Kade Stover brings his veteran leadership and front line experience back to the team after tying with Rediske in goals last season (4) while adding one assist.

As a team, the Beavers knocked home 30 total goals a year ago and had nearly 52 percent of their shot attempts coming on-goal. The team showed a great deal of improvement on the defensive side last fall but will look to be even stronger this season in late-game situations.

The Beavers will have a pair of experienced keepers returning to help anchor the backend of the defensive line. Seniors Cody Fuller and junior Zachary Sigler combined to play roughly 1,500 minutes in-goal. Sigler was the primary starter, going 6-6-0 overall with 44 saves in just over 1,000 minutes. Fuller played just shy of 500 minutes and picked up one win and 26 saves while being a part of two combined shutouts.

Not only will Resnick have his experienced group of returners to lean on, he has also added a talented group of incoming first-year players that will fill out his more than 30-player roster.

Following its two-week preseason camp, the Beavers will look to get off the ground running when it opens the season on the road at Martin Luther College on Friday, Aug. 29. BVU shutout the Knights, 3-0, to begin the 2024 campaign.

We look forward to testing ourselves against another tough conference schedule.
Kelsey Resnick, BVU Head Men's Soccer Coach
