Men's Soccer Wraps up Season with Tough 3-0 Home Loss to Wartburg

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 29, 2024) - The Buena Vista University men's soccer team wrapped up its 2024 season on Tuesday night inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium with a tough 3-0 American Rivers Conference loss to Wartburg College.

It was a back-and-forth and pretty even match throughout the opening half, but the Knights were able to capitalize on two of their six total shot attempts over the first 45 minutes. Wartburg broke a scoreless contest inside of the first three minutes on a goal scored by Lwings Kabula which was his fourth of the year.

That's how things stood until late in the half when Kaleab Wendy found the back of the net off a pass from Kadin Bolin in the 33'.

BVU had three shots on target in the opening half but couldn't get any of them past starting keeper Henry Eckert.

The Knights (9-4-4 (6-2=0 A-R-C) began to apply a bit more offensive pressure in the second half and held an 11-3 edge in shots over the final period, including the final score of the night during the 66'

Five different players turned in two shots to lead a balanced offensive attack for Wartburg while junior Kendall Bickford had two of the team's six attempts. He also had one of the team's four shots-on-goal.

Zachary Sigler went the distance in-goal for BVU and posted three saves. Eckert went the first 81 minutes for the Knights and also registered a trio of saves.

Buena Vista concludes the year at 9-11 overall (0-8 A-R-C).
