Men's Soccer Earns Big 1-1 Draw against the Dutch

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 21, 2026) - Sophomore Jeramiah Rediske turned in his third goal this season and the seventh of his career to give BVU the lead midway through the opening half, but Central College had an answer just one minute later, and the two teams battled it out defensively the rest of the way en route to a 1-1 draw inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.

The draw snaps the program's 43-match overall conference losing streak. It also gives Buena Vista its first points earned against the Dutch toward the conference standings since playing to a 0-0 tie back in 2006. The team's four ties this season are now tied for the most all-time in a single season in program history. BVU also had four ties back in 2004 when it finished 8-8-4.

Rediske took a long lead pass from freshman Kenin Kapich downfield, and immediately possessed the ball out in front of a Central defender before taking about 2 dribbles and knocking his shot into the upper left of corner of the north goal for the 1-0 lead during the 22nd minute. That lead was short lived as Nate Lampe  came back the other way nearly one minute later and won a 50-50 ball that BVU keeper Alexis Sanabia tried to come out and snatch at the  top of the box but couldn't control it, leading to an open net for Lampe.

Rediske's goal was BVU's lone shot attempt in the first half compared to six total from the Dutch. Things were a bit more even in the second with Central posting eight shots and BVU four.

Sanabia and the entire Beaver defense came up big over the final 10 minutes as Central (5-6-2, 1-3-1 A-R-C) tried to apply the pressure offensively.

Brayden Schwinck registered two of BVU's five total shots and had one on-goal. Jacob Freund and Zachary Jakobitz chipped in with the team's other two shots-on-goal. Sanabia went the distance in-goal and picked up a pair of saves.

Buena Vista is now 3-7-4 overall (0-5-1 A-R-C) and has a big final week of the regular season on the horizon. The team will first travel to Coe College (6-10-1, 1-4 A-R-C) on Saturday, Oct. 24 for a 3:30 p.m. match. The Kohawks went on the road and knocked off Nebraska Wesleyan, 3-2, tonight. BVU currently sits two points behind Coe in the A-R-C standings and just three behind the Dutch for the sixth spot in the race for the final A-R-C Tournament berth. BVU will close out the regular season at home next Tuesday, Oct. 27, against the Prairie Wolves.
