DECORAH, Iowa (Nov. 9, 2024) - The Buena Vista University men's wrestling team took the mat for the first time in 2024-25 on Saturday by competing at the annual Luther College Open. 

The Beavers had seven different individuals win matches on the day with Aiden Kirk, Nolan Nguyen and Jesus Olivares each winning multiple matches.

Kirk followed his second round bye with a major decision in the consolation round two before notching a 7-5 decision in round three. Nguyen added back-to-back decisions in the second and third rounds of consolation while Olivares registered his first collegiate fall before winning by decision.

A total of 25 different schools from all NCAA levels, along with NAIA and JUCO took part in the event.

Buena Vista will open its home schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 13, by hosting Northwestern College (IA) in a non-conference dual at 7 p.m.
