WHEATON, Ill. (Jan. 31, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's wrestling team was back in action on Friday at the Pete Willson Wheaton College Invitational, but the Beavers had all eight individuals eliminated on the opening day of the double-elimination tournament.

The event is one of the largest annual tournaments in the Midwest, hosting nearly 30 DIII programs each year.

BVU freshman Jack Decker (133) and senior Hayden Stout (165) were the lone individuals to secure wins on the day. Decker bounced back from an opening round defeat to notch a third period fall with just under one minute remaining. He would end his tournament by a medical forfeit in the second round consolations.

Stout came out and secured a strong 8-1 decision to begin his day over Concordia-Wisconsin's Hunter Barr. He then would go on and lose by fall in round two as well as his first round consolation match.

Buena Vista returns to action next on Friday, Feb. 6, for an American Rivers Conference Dual at Simpson College (1-5, 1-5 A-R-C). Action inside Cowles Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.
