STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 4, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's soccer team was back at home on Friday night for the second time in as many matches to begin the year and used a strong defensive effort to earn a 1-1 tie against visiting Concordia College (Minn).
The two sides met on the pitch for the first time since 2019 with the Cobbers having won four straight times in the series. BVU's last win was a thrilling 3-2 triumph back in 2015.
Neither side was able to get much offense going in the first half due to the strong defensive play, but the Beavers finally broke through during the 32' when Daniel Martinez sent a nice feed from the top left side of the box down near the far side of the net before sophomore Brayden Schwinck found the ball and kicked it through for his second career goal.
Concordia had an answer late in the half when it pulled even at 1-1 during the 40'
The Cobbers managed to get five shots off in the first half while BVU was held to only three.
