LE SEUR, Minn. (Apr. 18, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's golf team traveled up north to begin the 36-hole Booby Krig Invite on Saturday hosted by Gustavus Adolphus and turned in an opening round of 332 and is in 15th out of 16 teams overall.

Senior Mason Laven was the lone individual to break 80 on the day for the Beavers as he carded a 79 and sits 45th overall. Senior Matthew Turpen was four strokes behind with senior Kaleb Sander five back. Sander had a team-high three birdies in the round but was plagued by a pair of double bogeys and one triple bogey.

Fellow senior Gabe Kramer was seven strokes back of Laven after his round of 86.

It was a strong field of teams and golfers which is a good test for the Beavers before they go into next weekend's A-R-C Championships. The top two schools broke 300 on the day, led by a 296 from the host Gusties. A total of 10 schools ended their days with a 310 or better. BVU is only two shots back of Macalester.

The field consists of 97 total golfers and 27 of them shot five-over par or lower on their round. The clubhouse leader is UW-Eau Claire's Spencer Lynh who carded an even-par round of 71.

Sunday's final 18 holes are scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
