FORT DODGE, Iowa (Apr. 12, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's golf team turned in a pair of solid rounds at the Iowa Central Spring Invite which was held on Friday and Saturday, and ended with a 36-hole score of 618 and took 13th overall among a strong field of 15 teams.
Three individuals carded final round scores in the 70's with the low-round of the team coming from
Matthew Turpen with a 76.
Kaleb Sander was right behind with a 77 which included a team-high two birdies.
Mason Laven finished his tournament on a strong note with a 79.
Gabe Kramer came out of the gates on fire during Friday's opening round with a stellar round of 73 that included back-to-back birdies to begin his day and ended with four overall. Turpen, Sander and Laven all joined him in the 70's as BVU ended with a round of 306.
It was a loaded field of golfers which saw four golfers finish under par and two others that came in at even par. Turpen was BVU's highest place finisher in a tie for 41st but only nine shots back of seventh. Kramer was just one stroke behind Turpen while Sander was three back. Laven was in a tie for 72nd but only six strokes behind Turpen.
The schedule continues for the Beavers on Saturday, Apr.18 and Sunday, Apr. 19 at the Bobby Krig Invite hosted by Gustavus Adolphus. That'll be the team's final tune-up before the A-R-C Championships on Apr. 26-28.
