INDIANOLA, Iowa (May 9, 2025) - The Buena Vista University women's outdoor track & field team got off to a strong start to the A-R-C Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon on the campus of Simpson College.
Freshman
Ava Mills wrapped up the heptathlon with an eighth-place finish by chalking up 3,481 points and fell only one point shy of seventh. On Thursday, she came in second in the high jump and third in the shot put. Then on Friday, she set a personal best mark in the long jump while taking sixth.
Sophomore
Megan Bakke qualified into Saturday's finals of the 800-meter run after crossing in a personal best time of 2:19:21 and qualifying eighth. Saturday's final is slated for 3:05 p.m.
Senior
Courtney Johnson took home seventh place in the shot put with a season-best heave of 13.01 meters which is now ranked #51 in DIII.
As a team, the Beavers are eighth overall with three team points thru seven scored events.
Saturday's final day gets going at 10 a.m. with the remaining field events while the running events begin at 1:30 p.m.
