Beaver Dance Team Places Third at A-R-C Cheer & Dance Championships

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Feb. 16, 2025) - Buena Vista University played host to the 2025 American Rivers Conference Cheer & Dance Championships on Sunday afternoon, and the Beavers would place third overall in the Dance Overall Team Competition with an average score of 72.12.

In the six-team hip-hop category, the Beavers routine scored 80.4 points and was only a half-point behind runner-up Wartburg and just 1.07 behind champion Central. In the jazz category, BVU was also third in the five-team division with 73.2 points before it notched a runner-up performance with its pom routine among the six-team division. BVU totaled 71.03 points. It marks the second straight year of taking second in that category.

The Beavers moved up to third this year overall after taking fifth the last two years. Central College won the overall dance team championship with an average score of 86.18 with Nebraska Wesleyan coming in second with an average score of 73.42.

In addition to the team performances, junior Kenna Kasel and freshman Keilie Martens earned First Team All-Conference accolades. Second team dance honorees for the Beavers were Ashley Westering and Libby Birdsell. Honorable Mention in dance was Brianna Aspleaf.
