DES MOINES, Iowa (Dec. 5, 2025) - The Buena Vista University dance team competed in the college dance championships, hosted by the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association. The Beavers captured Division I ratings in every category in which they performed, bringing home trophies in two categories.

Competing against other NCAA Division III schools, the BVU team placed third in hip hop and third in jazz. The Beavers were also singled out for recognition by Rebel Athletic Dance, earning the Rebel Award for collegiate teams.

“We went out there and we left it all on the floor,” said senior Kenna Kasel. “We felt really confident and good about what we did,”

“It does really feel like a family,” said senior Kaylee Vandernberg. "This team right here, the Beaver family, got us together and I wouldn't have it any other way."

The event is in its 50th season and is the largest high school dance competition in the United States. This marks the 19th year in which it has also included college competition.

The Beaver dance team, under the direction of Kezia Molinsky and Tori Stille, will next compete at the American Rivers Conference Competitive Cheer and Dance Championship at Central College in Pella on Feb. 15, 2026.
