BVU carried the momentum over into the start of the second half and quickly went up by 19 in the opening minutes. Jackson Jones made one of the team's three second half long range buckets as the lead reached the 20-point plateau at 59-37 with 14:32 remaining. The Beavers led by as many as 25 points near the eight-minute mark and never let the Dutch claw back any closer than 14 the rest of the way. The 88 points scored was the most the team has scored this season and marks its highest point total in A-R-C play since defeating Simpson 98-75 last season - a span of 13 games.
Brink was an efficient 9-of-15 from the field, including 4-of-7 from long range. It was his fourth 20-point performance over the last five games. Jackson Jones chalked up his second career 20-point game and was 9-of-14 overall and 3-of-5 from distance. Sternberg had arguably his best game of the year with 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Jaden Jones set a new career-high with his seven assists to go along with four rebounds and one steal. BVU, which leads the league in assist-to-turnover ratio, totaled 26 assists on its 34 made field goals and had only 13 turnovers. After not shooting a free-throw in the first half, the Beavers went 10-of-13 in the second half, including 5-of-6 from Brink.
BVU held the Dutch (4-4, 0-2 A-R-C) to 37 percent shooting and only 9-of-31 from downtown (29 percent). Owen Schipper scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help lead the way while Bryalon Thomsen made five three's and added 23 points.
Buena Vista improves to 5-2 on the year (1-1 A-R-C) and is at Simpson College (2-6, 0-1 A-R-C) next Saturday, Dec. 13, for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
