CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Dec. 4, 2025) - The Buena Vista men's wrestling team continued its American Rivers Conference schedule on Thursday night at #23 Coe College but it was a strong start by the Kohawks that sent them to a 47-5 victory over the Beavers inside of Kohawk Arena.

Coe used bonus points in all nine victories and led 41-0 heading into 197 pounds before senior Luis Salazar put BVU on the board with a strong 16-1 technical fall victory late in the third period.

Salazar got a takedown in the first period and led 3-1 going to the second. That's when he broke things open. He began in the down position and earned an escape and later got a takedown along with both 2-point and 4-point near fall points to extend the margin to 13-1 going to the fourth. The two wrestlers started the final period on their feet and Salazar would end the match 29 seconds into the period with his first technical fall of the year.

Buena Vista is now 1-4 overall (0-2 A-R-C) and will be right back on the mat on Saturday, Dec. 6, to host the annual BVU Open inside of the Lamberti Recreation Center. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m.
