Dance Wins Big with Best-Ever Performance at ISDTA Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa (Dec. 5, 2025) - The Buena Vista University dance team competed in the college dance championships, hosted by the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association. The Beavers captured Division I ratings in every category in which they performed, bringing home trophies in each.

Competing against other NCAA Division III schools, the BVU team placed fourth in pom, second in hip hop, and second in jazz.

“I am so impressed with our team’s performances today. The amount of preparation and dedication shown by our athletes has been outstanding,” said Kezia Molinsky, BVU Director of Cheer & Dance. “Congrats to Coach Tori for another successful year!”

“Every year we always build more technique and skill on our team,” said senior Emma Stika. "It is such a beautiful experience and I'm just so lucky to have grown with this program for four years."

“Being a Beaver means everything. I love BVU, I love the community," added senior Libby Birdsell. "Leaving the floor today, it was just the most proud I've ever been.”

The event is in its 49th season and is the largest high school dance competition in the United States. This marks the 18th year in which it has also included college competition, with more than 20 schools participating.

The Beaver dance team, under the direction of Kezia Molinsky and Tori Stille, will next compete at the American Rivers Conference Competitive Cheer and Dance Championship on Feb. 16. The Beavers, who hosted the very first conference championships in 2018, will once again welcome competitors to campus for the event.
