STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 8, 2026) - The weekly honors keep on coming for after the first weekend of competition for Buena Vista sophomore Charley Hernandez. This afternoon, she was named the A-R-C Volleyball Offensive Performer of the Week for the first time in her career.
Hernandez helped lead the Beaver volleyball team to a perfect 4-0 start to the season with wins over Knox College, Benedictine University, Bethany Lutheran College and Concordia-Chicago during last weekend's Concordia-Chicago Invite held on Friday, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5
For the week, the outside hitter:
- Led the Beavers with 50 kills and only 5 errors for a .429 attack percentage
- Her .429 percentage currently leads all players in the A-R-C and her 4.17 kills/set is 2nd.
- Had three double-doubles (kills-digs) in the four matches
- Her 18 kills during a 3-0 win over Concordia-Chicago to wrap up the week tied for the sixth-most for a 3-set match in program history.
The last weekly offensive honor for BVU was Hannah Smith back in 2022.
BVU begins the year 4-0 for the first time in 20 years. Hernandez and the team looks to keep the early season momentum going tonight (Sept. 8) with a non-conference match at Faith Baptist Bible College starting at 6 p.m.
