STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 15, 2026) - Another strong and balanced offensive showing leads to another 3-0 sweep as the Buena Vista volleyball team moved its record to 7-0 on the season following the sweep of visiting Grinnell College during a non-conference match on Tuesday night.

BVU, just as it has done essentially every match all season, took control from the opening set and never looked back. The Beavers went on to win the first set 25-13 before rolling in the second 25-8. The third set was back-and-forth most of the way before BVU used a big 7-0 run midway through to go in front and stay ahead for good en route to a 25-20 win.

Freshman Nora Konz had a career night with 18 kills and a .432 attack percentage. She also chipped in with nine digs and one solo block on the defensive side. Senior Sydney Meints turned in her best night of the year with 10 kills and no errors on only 14 total swings for a career-high attack percentage of .714. Sophomore Charley Hernandez chipped in with nine kills and 13 digs. As a team, BVU posted its fourth match over a .300 attack percentage as it finished with .345.

The dynamic setting duo of juniors Merced Ramirez and Anabel Seaman continue to shine by dishing out 16 and 14 assists, respectively, while freshman Kaylee Wray chipped in with nine assists and a match-high 14 digs.

Grinnell led briefly at 3-2 in the opening set before freshman Jocelyn O'Neal sparked a key 5-0 run and never looked back. The team went on to score nine of the next 10 points to pull away and win 25-13.

It was all Beavers in the second set. They jumped out to an 11-1 lead and would go on to hold an opponent under 10 points for the fourth time this season by rolling to their 25-8 victory.

The Pioneers (3-5) led 12-9 in the third set before BVU took control yet again by scoring seven straight points and never trailed from there. Grinnell tried to keep within striking distance in the end at 20-19, but the Beavers got three straight kills from Meints to pull away late to win 25-20.

Buena Vista improves to 7-0 on the season and has yet to drop a single set in any match.  The team travels to Morris, Minn., to take part in the Minnesota-Morris quadrangular on Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept.19. The Beavers begin play against Concordia-Chicago on Friday at 5 p.m.
