Krager's Double-Doubles Paces WBB in 73-55 Road Win over Spartans

1/3/2026 9:03:00 PM

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Jan. 2, 2026) - Sophomore Bradi Krager scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to help lead the Buena Vista women's basketball team to a commanding 73-55 American Rivers Conference road victory at the University of Dubuque in the team's first game back since the holiday break.

Krager finished 9-of-14 shooting from the field and buried 3-of-5 attempts from behind the arc to lift a hot-shooting Beaver offense that went over 50 percent shooting in each of the first three quarters. She also grabbed 12 rebounds for the second straight game en route to her second straight double-double and fourth of the year.

Freshman Adeeya Yanga turned in a career-high 17 points on an efficient 8-of-10 shooting. She also hauled in six rebounds and blocked two shots. Sophomore Tyme Boettcher was 6-of-10 from the field and chipped in with 12 points and nine boards.

Senior Madalynn Hilgendorf came off the bench and scored five points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists.

Buena Vista made 30 field goals and shot 48 percent overall which was its highest single-game total since making 43 during its lopsided win over Faith Baptist in the second game of the year.

The Beavers led 19-11 after the first quarter and used a 52 percent shooting effort in the second to extend the margin to 38-24 at the half. The sharp shooting carried over into the second half where it broke things open with a 62-38 lead going into the fourth. It maintained the cushion throughout the final quarter with the Spartans unable to get any closer than 17.

A tough defensive effort by BVU held Dubuque (4-8, 2-1 A-R-C) to 31 percent shooting and 5-of-27 from long distance. The Beavers also held a 48-38 advantage on the glass.

The win gives the Beavers back-to-back road wins over the Spartans which is the first time it has won consecutive match-ups over them since taking three straight from the end of the 2015-16 season to the end of the 2016-17 campaign. Buena Vista evens its overall record at 7-7 and is now 1-3 in conference play.

Next up will be a trip back to Dubuque, Iowa, next Saturday, Jan. 10, to take on Loras College in a 2 p.m. tipoff.
