STORM LAKE, Iowa (Jan. 24, 2026) - Buena Vista senior Easton Hayes registered a pair of season best times on Saturday to help lead the way for the men's indoor track and field team as it hosted the annual Dennis Young Classic inside of the Lamberti Rec Center.

Hays came in third with a season best time of 7.17 seconds in the 60m dash and finished sixth in the 200m dash with a season best clocking of 23.46.

Freshman J'Omarion Preston was close behind Hays and came in seventh in crowded field in the 60m with a time of 7.24 seconds. He was then 12th in the 200m with a time of  24.44. Fellow freshman Jackson Mulkins was right in the mix behind Preston by taking running 24.61 in the 200m and 7.44 in the 60m.

Freshman Patrick Heffernan had a strong showing in the first home meet of his collegiate career by placing third overall in the 3000m run with a time of 9:02.43.

In the field events, freshman Kaden Zweibahmer was the high finisher with a fifth-place effort in the long jump with a leap of 6.05m.

Up next for the Beavers will be the Grinnell College Invite on Saturday, Jan. 31. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m.
