CRETE, Neb. (Jan. 17, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's indoor track & field team got its 2026 schedule off to a strong start on Saturday at the Scott Hisely Invite hosted by Doane University.
BVU came away with eight top-5 finishes on the day, including an individual title by senior
Dylan Austad in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 17:12.84 with freshman
Kade Hruby in second.
Freshman
Bryce Moquin was runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 53.58.
J'Omarion Preston and Easton Hayes both qualified into the finals of the 60-meter dash and came in third and fourth, respectively. Preston's clocking of 7.12 seconds is seventh-fastest in program history. Hays crossed the line in 7.25 seconds which was just shy of the top-10 list by 0.01 seconds.
Hays also came in fifth in the 200-meter dash at 23.64 and again narrowly missed out on the program's top-10 list by a half second.
Aiden Egertson placed third in the 1,000-meter run with
Patrick Heffernan doing the same in the mile run with a new personal best time of 4:40.14.
Buena Vista continues its schedule next Saturday, Jan. 24, by hosting the annual Dennis Young Classic inside of the Lamberti Recreation Center. Field events will get the day started at 11 a.m.
