SEASON PREVIEW: Women's Golf with High Hopes Heading into 2025 Fall Season

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Aug. 28, 2025) - The Buena Vista University women's golf team heads into its 2025 season with an abundance of confidence and high expectations following a 2024-25 campaign that proved to be one of the program's most successful over the last two decades.

The last time the group was on the course in competition, it walked off as champions after winning the Simpson College Classic to round out the spring schedule this past May. Senior Brooke Stellmaker claimed the individual title which was the first of her career and it also marked the program's first team title at any event since 2011. At last fall's American Rivers Conference Championships, the Beavers came in fourth which was its highest place in the standings in 18 years.

Led by seventh-year head coach Joe Powell, the Beavers expect to keep that momentum going when it tees-off the fall 2025 campaign as it returns both of it's all-conference performers from last year along with an honorable mention player. Seniors Hailey Bistodeau and Brooke Stellmaker will be leaned on to guide the way after each placed in the top-10 of the A-R-C Championships. Bistodeau's fifth-place finish was the highest for the program at the championships since 2017. Junior Noelle Hammand will be right in the mix at the forefront of the roster after just missing out on all-conference accolades with an 11th place finish. Junior Riley Haschke is also among the returners for BVU that was in the championship field and turned in a final round 86.

All four individuals finished the year with scoring averages in the mid-80's while the team as a whole looks to continue lowering its scoring average of 347 over 18 rounds from 2024-25.

Sophomores Ella Whited and Madison Lindaman will give Powell additional experience as the team begins the year. Each played in right around 10 rounds during their first collegiate season a year ago. Powell will field one of his larger overall season rosters during his tenure after adding four newcomers to the mix as well, and he is super excited to see this team make strides throughout the fall in hopes of reaching that next level of success.

The BVU women’s golf program is excited to continue to build upon our success in the 2024 – 2025 season which turned out to be one of the best seasons in recent history. After a strong fourth-place finish in conference play last season and multiple all-conference honors, our team returns with experience and welcomes a talented freshman class ready to make an impact this fall.

The fall schedule tees-off for BVU on Aug. 30-31 at the American Rivers Conference Preview Tournament held at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls. After playing a combined for more rounds over the two following weekends, the Beavers will then host its annual BVU Fall Invite on Sept. 20-21 out at the BVU Golf Course at Lake Creek.

A final tune-up for the team will come at the Waldorf University Invite on Sept. 29 before the A-R-C Championships are scheduled to begin on Oct. 4.
