CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (Aug. 31, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's golf team had a strong opening weekend that was capped off on Sunday with a 324 which moved them up one spot and into a fourth-place finish out of 10 teams at the Kohawk Invite played at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course.
BVU bettered its opening round score by five shots on Sunday and overtook the Wartburg College 'B' team which dipped down to sixth overall.Â
Senior
Brooke Stellmaker finished 12th overall after a final round 79 while senior
Hailey Bistodeau had the team's best final round at 77 and climbed up to 19th overall.
Ella Whited and
Riley Haschke both finished strong with rounds of 83 and 85, respectively.
Freshman
Joie Christensen matched Haschke on Sunday with a round of 83 while fellow freshman
Hannah Patrick posted a 93. Both Christensen and Patrick golfed as individuals for the weekend.
Mount Mercy was the clubhouse leader after firing an opening-round 297 on Saturday and came back with a 302 on Sunday to win by eight shots over the University of Dubuque. Wartburg College's 'A' team was third at 631 ahead of BVU's 653.
Next up on the schedule for the Beavers will be the Wartburg College Fall Invite on Sept. 6-7 in Waverly, Iowa, at Prairie Links Golf Course.
