SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Apr. 11-12, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's outdoor track & field team was back in action this weekend at the annual Sioux City Relays held inside of Olsen Stadium on the Morningside University campus. BVU had multiple top-5 finishes to help highlight the two-day event for the team.
On Friday,
Karley Ruiz-Genovese captured the individual title in the 5,000-meter run in a personal best time of 19:30.29 which is nearly one full minute faster than her previous mark.
Ava Mills ran a personal-best time of 16.88 in the 100-meter hurdles and qualified third into the finals of the event.
Megan Bakke took home fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.89 and came in ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:21.37.
Senior
Courtney Johnson captured a top-10 finish in the hammer throw with a heave of 45.07 meters while freshman Grace Neuberger came in sixth in the high jump by clearing 1.46 meters (4' 9.5").
Johnson added to her strong weekend on Saturday by taking third in the javelin throw and placing second in the shot put.
Payton Schermerhorn was right behind Johnson in third in the shot put.
Mills came back on the final day for the finals of the 100-meter hurdles and would place fourth overall with a 19.42 while facing a stiff and gusty wind.
Buena Vista is set to return to action next on Apr. 19 at the DeBacker Invitational hosted by Mount Mery University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
