DECORAH, Iowa (Feb. 27, 2026) - The American Rivers Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships began on Friday on the Luther College campus, and the Buena Vista women had limited action on the day.

Both Ava Mills and Hailey Hearting got the day going bright and early in the pentathlon. Hearting, who was competing in the event for the first time came in ninth overall and missed scoring team points by only 71 points. 

Later in the evening, she ran the prelims of the 60-meter dash and narrowly missed out on qualifying into Saturday's finals by only 0.4 seconds. She also competed in the long jump earlier in the afternoon and came in 11th.

Payton Schermerhorn and Emma Wiebold were also in action in the shot put and placed 14th and 15th, respectively.

The full day of action is set for Saturday, and it begins with the field events at 10 a.m. followed by the start of running events at 1 p.m.
