MARYVILLE, Mo. (Mar. 29, 2025) - The Buena Vista men's golf team teed-off its spring campaign on Friday and Saturday at the Graceland Spring Invite and the Beavers had four individuals place in the top-15 while placing second overall as a team at 626.
BVU came out and fired a 317 over the first 18 holes on Friday and was just one shot off the overall lead held by Southwestern CC. The team improved to a 309 on Saturday but Southwestern went low with a 298 to hold off the Beavers by 12 strokes.
Gabe Kramer led the way for BVU with a seventh-place finish after a final round of 74 which included three birdies on the back nine and five overall.
Matthew Turpen and
Mason Laven each carded final round 77's and came in 10th and 11th overall, respectively.
Kaleb Sander came in with an 81 and was 15th overall. As a team, the Beavers registered 14 birdies on Saturday with all four chalking up a birdie on the 520-yard, par-5 sixth hole.
Reid Hany birdied the 18th hole and turned in an 83 on Saturday and placed 39th overall.
Payton Greenwood and
Justin Hanks each golfed as individuals for the weekend and both tied for 50th.
The Beavers held off Simpson College by two shots as the Storm took third with a 628.
Buena Vista returns to the course on Apr. 5-6 at the Upper Iowa Spring Invite held at Sunnyside Golf & Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa.
