DUBUQUE, Iowa (Feb. 22, 2025) - The Buena Vista University women's indoor track & field team competed at the Solomon Butler Classic, hosted by the University of Dubuque, on Friday, and brough home another individual title from freshman Claire Schoreder in the 60-meter hurdles.
Schroeder held the fastest qualifying time into the finals at 9.16 seconds and would go on and win the event in a time of 9.01 seconds as she held off Dubuque's Victoria Zoltowska by one-half of a second. Schroeder currently has the second-fastest time in the A-R-C this season heading into next weekend's A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Takara Conley came in eighth overall in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.51 and currently ranks 21st in the A-R-C this season and within three seconds of the top-10.
Sophomore
Megan Bakke had another strong performance in the 800-meter run by taking fifth overall in a field of 16 with a time of 2:25.63. She was just two seconds off her previous best clocking set earlier this season.
In field events,
Payton Schermerhorn and
Courtney Johnson came in sixth and eighth, respectively in the shot put.
The Beavers will travel to the American Rivers Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 28-Mar. 1 at Wartburg College. The event begins on Feb. 28 at 10 a.m with the multi-events.
