Women's Hoops with 73-51 Road Win at Macalester

Senior Madalynn Hilgendorf goes up for a shot attempt against Macalester on Friday, Nov. 14.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Nov. 14, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team went on the road for the first time this season on Friday night, and behind a 21-point performance by junior Mary Walker, the Beavers rolled to a 73-51 victory at Macalester College.

BVU came out and shot only 14-of-44 in the first half but used a strong defensive effort of its own to hold a 33-27 lead at the break. The Beavers were dominant in the paint all night long, scoring 42 of its 73 points around the rim after going 8-of-27 from long range.

A pair of quick baskets in the paint, along with a pair of Walker three-point makes, quickly pushed a three-point cushion up to a 47-36 lead midway through the third quarter. The Scots cut the deficit down to seven but the Beavers closed the period on a 10-3 run to lead 57-43 going to the fourth.

A fast break layup by Walker off a defensive rebound from senior Danika Demers to begin the fourth quarter set the tone for the Beavers who went on to score the first seven points of the frame and never looked back.

Walker finished 9-of-18 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-6 from downtown, en route to her highest single-game scoring total in a BVU uniform. She just missed out on a double-double by grabbing nine rebounds to go along with four assists and four steals. Sophomore Bradi Krager did add her first double-double of the year with 15 points and 11 rebounds to go along with a career-high three blocked shots. Freshman Adeeya Yanga chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds and three blocks, while freshman Adriana Howard hauled in a career-high 14 rebounds. Demers was finding the hot hand by dishing out a season-high eight assists while committing only one turnover.

Buena Vista outrebounded the Scots 57-45 and held them to only 24.7 percent shooting, including only three made field goals in both the first and fourth quarters. Mary Daley led Macalester (0-3) with 15 points and five rebounds.

The Beavers improve to 2-1 overall and will be back on the court Saturday afternoon for a non-conference road game at St. Olaf College. Tip-off in Northfield, Minn., is set for 3 p.m.
