Women's Cross Country Runs Strong at Platte River Rumble

ASHLAND, Neb. (Oct. 17, 2025) - Competing against a field made up of primarily Division I and Division II runners, the Buena Vista women's cross country team turned in strong times on Friday afternoon at the Platte River Rumble, hosted by Creighton University.

Sophomore Lillian Dahlhauser again led the way with a 23rd place overall finish with a time of 23:57.81 which was two minutes off the pace of the top collegiate finisher and did result in the top Division III finisher. Junior Megan Bakke ran her season-best 6k time of 24:47.94 and placed 40th while fellow junior Takara Conley chalked up her collegiate best time of 25:08.39 and was close behind in 44th.

Senior Karley Ruiz-Genovese ran her season-best mark of 25:48.91 while Kenadie Thiner, Leah Becker and Melody Flenker rounded out the line-up.

A total of 63 runners finished the race which consisted of teams such as Creighton, University of Nebraska-Omaha, University of Nebraska-Kearney and South Dakota State. 

Buena Vista will now turn its training and focus to the American Rivers Conference Championships which will be run on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Noon in Dubuque, Iowa, and hosted by Loras College.
