Women's Soccer Rallies for a 1-1 Tie against Dakota St.

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 14, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team stepped out of conference play on a cool, wet and rainy Tuesday evening to host Dakota State University, and the Beavers rallied in the second half with a goal from Hailey Chambers to earn a 1-1 draw against the Trojans.

DSU, playing its first season of collegiate soccer, broke a scoreless match during the 31' when Charli Zimmerman sent a nice lead pass from about the 35-yard line into a cutting Nichole Corona who knocked in her team-high fifth goal of the year.

The two teams each had four total shots in the opening half with five of the eight coming on-goal.

Dakota State kept the pressure on the Beavers in the second half by holding a 12-2 margin in total shots, but BVU made the most of its two by getting a tying goal from Chambers during the 67th minute. She gained possession of the ball out around the 35-yard line and dribbled the ball between the legs of an oncoming defender before going around a second defender about 10 yards later prior to placing her shot into the top right corner of the net. for her team-high fourth goal of the year and the 10th of her career.

Sophomore Maia Jaroch, this week's A-R-C Women's Soccer Defensive Performer of the Week, came up big yet again, surrendering just the one goal and posting seven overall saves, including five in the second half that allowed the team to rally.

Buena Vista is now 4-8-2 on the year and returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 18 to host Simpson College (7-5-2, 3-2 A-R-C) at 5 p.m.
