LAST TIME OUT:
Buena Vista: The Beavers played their first road conference game of the year last Saturday at Coe College. BVU took the early 3-0 first quarter lead only to have the Kohawks respond back with 17-unanswered points and lead 17-10 at the half. Senior tailback Meven Obregon chalked up a season-high 103 yards on the ground while junior quarterback Zy Gravitt completed 21-of-44 attempts for 183 yards and one touchdown. Hunter Emgarten hauled in the lone touchdown grab and tied for the team-lead with Johnny Messerly in total catches with five. The defense struggled in slowing down the Coe running game and surrendered 335 yards on the ground and one score.

Luther: The Norse hosted #8-ranked Wartburg College in their Homecoming game last weekend but remained winless on the year after a 36-3 setback. Defensively, Luther came out and held the Knights to only one first-half touchdown while forcing them into a pair of made field goals. Wartburg did tack on a safety and led 15-3 at the half. Wartburg pulled away in the second half with a pair of touchdown runs and one score through the air. ABOUT BUENA VISTA: The Beavers are becoming a more balanced attack on the offensive side but continue to work on finding ways to put more points on the scoreboard. The team is averaging 267.0 yards of total offense per game and just over 6.7 points per contest. BVU has managed to increase its rushing yards each game this season and is averaging better than 95.0 yards per game which ranks sixth overall in the A-R-C. Through the air, the team has gone over 200 yards only once and that was during its victory over Wisconsin Lutheran where it had 210. Defensively, the team continues to be strong in defending the pass, ranking 13th in DIII. On the flip-side, it is allowing over 263.0 yards rushing per game but will face a Luther offense this week that is averaging only 52.6 per game. Drew Volkmann helps lead the way with 28 total tackles and has intercepted the only pass for the defense through four games. Ethan Wiersma and Brody Boeckman are right behind with 23 stops apiece with Boeckman also forcing a team-leading two fumbles. The kicking game continues to make strides each week. First-year senior place kicker Tyler Pennington has made a pair of field goals over 30 yards this season and is 2-of-3 beyond 30 yards.

SCOUTING THE NORSE: Luther remains in search of its first win this season and has generated only three wins total over the last three-plus seasons. Most of the team's yards is generated through the air despite all three quarterbacks completing less than 40 percent of their pass attempts on the year. Noah Millhouse, who is expected to get the start, is 12-of-32 overall and has thrown for 106 yards. Christian Hiner has a team-leading 271 yards but has been intercepted six times compared to only two touchdown strikes. Defensively, Tyler Ragan is the focal point as he ranks in the top-10 of Division III in tackles per game at over 12.0 per game. He has totaled 64 this season to go along with one interception, one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry.
