Men's Golf Maintains Fourth Place Finish at BVU Fall Invite

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 22, 2024) - With cooler temperatures and gustier winds shaping the BVU Golf Course at Lake Cree for Sunday's final round of the annual BVU Fall Invite, the Buena Vista University men's golf team was still able to maintain its fourth place position in the overall team standings despite its round of 322.

BVU came out strong over the first 18 holes on Saturday to fire a 305 with much calmer and warmer conditions. Kaleb Sander moved up the leaderboard to wrap up the tournament and came in tied for fifth overall after a round of 78. Matthew Turpen turned in a round of 79 and tied for eighth.

Mason Laven, who fired an opening round 72 on Saturday and sat in third place, faced the tougher conditions over the final 18 holes and posted an 83 to come in 14th. Gabe Kramer improved by two shots to cap-off his weekend with an 81 and tied for 26th.

The Beavers' ‘B’ team finished strong on Sunday and moved up one spot into seventh. Justin Hanks was its top finisher in 19th overall despite a round of 83 that followed an opening round 77. Nathan Hillman,  who shot an 85 on Saturday, bounced back with an 81 on Sunday and climbed 10 spots up the board into a tie for 29th. Ethan Peterson was one shot back overall in 31st as Reid Haney (85) and Isaiah Segovia (86) rounded out the line-up.

Buena Vista will next compete in the Wartburg College Fall Invite on Sept. 27 and Sept. 28 in Waverly
