WATERLOO, Iowa (Apr. 7, 2024) - The Buena Vista men's golf team improved its team score during Sunday's final round of the Upper Iowa Spring Invite, but the Beavers would drop one spot and finish 15th overall in the 36-hole event played at Sunnyside Country Club.

Freshman Cooper Sebastian led the Beavers with an 81 on Sunday and tied for 41st overall at 163. He was, however, only four shots back of posting a top-20 finish. Sophomore Kaleb Sander shaved three shots off his opening round to finish with a final round 82 and his 167 moved him up five spots to a tie for 56th. Matthew Turpen came in just two shots back of Sander following his 85.

Kaden Miller closed out the two-day event with an 86 while sophomore Mason Laven rounded out the five-player line-up with a 95.

Kirkwood Community College took the first three places, led by overall medalist Grant Greazel, who fired a final round 73 and held off teammate Nate Offerman by two strokes after Offerman carded a low round of 69.

Buena Vista's 334 was four shots better than its first round score on Sunday, but the Beavers would drop one place to 15th after Coe College jumped over them following their round of 326. The Kohawks were two shots behind BVU entering the round after a 340 on Saturday.

BVU is back out on the course on Apr. 14-15 when it takes part in the Loras College Spring Invite at The Meadows Golf Course in Peosta, Iowa.
