Men's Golf Moves up a Spot to Finish Luther College Spring Invite

DECORAH, Iowa (Apr. 20, 2024) - Cooper Sebastian turned in a team-best final round of 76 on Sunday to lead the Buena Vista University men's golf team as it concluded the 36-hole Luther College Spring Invite held at Oneota Country Club.

Sebastian's final round included all pars on the back nine while he went four-over on the front nine to wrap up the day. He moved up two spots on the leaderboard and came in a tie for 14th overall. Mason Laven had a strong final round as well with a 79 that moved him up to a tie for 47th. He also had one of the team's three birdies on the day, and that came on the 18th hole.

Justin Hanks, who was one of three Beavers golfing as individuals for the weekend, tied for 33rd after his second straight round of 80. Matthew Turpen was also golfing individually, and finished just ahead of Laven in a tie for 45th. Kaleb Sander (47-36=83) and Kaden Miller (41-44=85) each improved their opening round scores by two shots while Payton Greenwood (42-45=87) rounded out the scoring line-up in 63rd.

Quinn Van Roekel was three shots better on Sunday with a 92 and was third individual golfer for the team.

Buena Vista (335-323=658) moved up one spot on the final day to place 10th overall. Carleton College captured the team title by eight shots over the host Norse after rounds of 297-294=591.

The Beavers now gear up for the American Rivers Conference Championships on Apr. 28-30 held at Glenn Oaks Country Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
