Men's Tennis Drops Home Finale 9-0 to Kohawks

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Apr. 20, 2024) - The Buena Vista University men's tennis team wrapped up its home schedule on Saturday afternoon, hosting Coe College on a cloudy and cold day out on the Buntrock Tennis Courts, and it was the visiting Kohawks who escaped with a 9-0 American Rivers Conference victory.

The Beavers battled tough through doubles play but the No. 1 tandem of Kaiden DePascale and Dalton Pregon, along with the No. 2 duo of Brock Bruns and Ryan Webb, were each handed 8-5 setbacks. Coe (13-12, 4-1 A-R-C) went on to finish the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 3.

There were several hard fought sets throughout singles play, including a first set tiebreaker at No. 3 where Brock Bruns came up short in the frame, 7-6, before going on to drop the second, 6-0. Daniel Vargas put up a strong fight in his No. 5 doubles match but would ultimately fall in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.

Buena Vista is now 4-12 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The team is back on the road for an A-R-C match on Monday, Apr. 22, at Central College starting at 4 p.m.
