WATERLOO, Iowa (Sept. 26, 2026) -  The American Rivers Conference Individual Men's Tennis Tournament wrapped up on Saturday afternoon, and both Jeb Bathrick and Crosby Blake highlighted the two-day event for Buena Vista with third place singles finishes.

Bathrick advanced into the Flight D semifinals with a thrilling comeback victory in his quarterfinals battle against Wartburg College's Noah Vint. Bathrick dropped the first set 4-0 before forcing a tie breaker with  a 5-3 win in the second. In the tie breaker, Bathrick trailed 3-0 and was able to string together eight straight points and come back to hang on for a 10-8 victory. His bid for a title came to an end in the semifinals with a 4-0, 4-1 setback to Loras College's Zander Freeman. Despite the loss, Bathrick bounced back and closed out his third-place match in convincing fashion with a 5-3, 4-0 triumph.

In Flight E, Blake had a thrilling semifinal match of his own as he dropped  his opening set 4-0 and took the second 4-2. His bid for the championship fell just short with a 10-5 loss in the tie breaker. With third-place on the line, Blake took down Central College's Noah Johnson in another tie breaker 4-0, 2-4 (11-9).

Bryson Fredericksen went 1-1 on Friday with the win coming in his opening round match against Wartburg College's Hinata Hayashi, 5-3, 2-4 (10-7).

In doubles play, the tandem of Tyler Harger and Caleb Fast notched a 7-5 first-round victory in the Flight B bracket before falling  in their second outing by the same score.

Cohen Dannhoff and Jordan Rief teamed up in Flight C action and won 6-2 in the first round before turning around and dropping a 6-2 decision in the next.

Buena Vista is set to host its annual BVU Alumni Match as part of Homecoming festivities on Saturday, Oct. 3 starting at 9 a.m. The Beavers are back in regular action on Sunday, Oct. 11 against Monmouth College in a match that was rescheduled from Sept. 20 due to weather.
