STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Buena Vista University Rocket League team picked up their first ever Championship with a 4-2 victory over Carolina University in the NACE East 9 Conference final. After finishing the regular season with a 3-4 overall record the Beavers who were the 41st seed caught fire winning three straight games picking up the Championship.
The Beavers opened up the playoffs against the 88th seed Columbia International University. BVU took care of business winning 4-0 (2-1, 3-1, 4-3, 5-2). In round two of the playoffs the Beavers took on #24 William Peace. BVU looked to avenge a loss in the regular season and did that. BVU won four of the final five games coming away with a 4-2 victory (1-2, 3-1, 3-1, 1-2, 3-1, 2-1) advancing them into the finals.
In the finals the Beavers took on #9 Carolina University a team they lost two in the regular season 3-1 (1-3, 1-0, 2-0, 3-2). In the finals the Beavers came out on fire in game one winning 3-0. But CU came back with a 1-0 win in game two and 3-2 win in game three taking the 2-1 lead. BVU regrouped to win game four 6-2 evening the score at 2-2. The last two games were extremely close but BVU came away with 3-2 wins in both taking the series 4-2.
