Women's Tennis Wraps up Fall Schedule at A-R-C Individual Tournament

PELLA, Iowa (Oct. 11, 2024) - The Buena Vista University women's tennis team saved its strongest performances until the end to wrap up its fall schedule at the American Rivers Conference Individual Tournament, held at both the Pella High Tennis Courts and the Pella Christian Tennis Courts.

Teams began with doubles play thru the quarterfinal round to begin the day before going into the singles draws thru the quarterfinals to wrap up the first of the two-day event.

For BVU in doubles play, Macy Weller and Taylor Fritz lost to Hall/Peck from Simpson 6-2 while Hailey Meseck and Abigail King lost to Hynek/Walls from Simpson 6-4. Both matches were part of the 'Flight B' bracket.

In the Flight C singles bracket, the Beavers were part of a pair of thrilling third-set tiebreakers, but would come up just short in each one. Meseck lost to Kaitlyn Olson (Wartburg) 5-4, 1-4, (5-10) while Fritz lost to Giana Akins (Coe) 4-0, 2-4, (8-10).

"The ladies played very hard today to finish the fall season," said BVU head coach Dan Taylor. "We lost a few close matches with very small margins that could have gone either way. Hailey and Taylor both played extremely good tennis and each won a set against tough opponents. Hailey and Abby also had a very competitive set of doubles. The conference was extremely competitive and deep this year. Our team fought hard all fall and improved, and we will try to build on that improvement and look for increased success this spring."

A spring schedule for the Beavers will be added to www.bvuathletics.com as soon as it becomes available.
