HAM LAKE, Minn. (Sept. 3, 2023) - Sophomore
Matthew Turpen birdied two of the final four holes on the back-nine during Sunday's final round to help propel him to a four-over 76 over the final 18 holes and lead the Buena Vista men's golf team.
Turpen, who began the 36-hole event with a 78 on Saturday, finished with five birdies on the weekend and tied for 23rd-place overall. Freshman
Cooper Sebastian, who went out with a 78 in his BVU debut on Saturday, followed with an 81 on Sunday and was close behind in a tie for 35th. Sophomores
Landon Ray (87) and
Mason Laven (94) rounded out the line-up for BVU as sophomore
Jordan Greenwood withdrew from Sunday's final round.
As a team, the Beavers dipped to ninth after an overall round of 338. Augsburg turned in a 294 and held off runner-up Bethel by just one stroke.
Buena Vista looks to bounce back when the team gets back onto the course next weekend (Sept. 9 & 10) at the Mount Mercy Invite at Hunter's Ridge in Marion, Iowa.
