STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 14, 2023) - The Buena Vista men's tennis team played its first match of the fall on Wednesday evening on the Buntrock Tennis Courts, but despite playing several tight matches, the Beavers would fall to visiting Mount Marty University, 8-1.

All three doubles matches were highly contested outings with the No. 2 duo of Brock Bruns and Ryan Webb pulling out a thrilling 8-6 victory. The other two doubles teams would each lose by identical 8-4 scores.

Bruns looked to make it two wins on the night to begin the year, but after picking up a first set 6-2 victory in his No. 3 singles match, he would go on to drop the next two, including a 10-5 score in the third set tiebreaker.

Mount Marty remains perfect at 2-0 this season while BVU is now 0-1. The Beavers will play a scrimmage against Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge on Monday, Sept. 18 at 4 p.m.
