STORM LAKE, Iowa (Aug. 16, 2023) - The American Rivers Conference has announced the 2023 Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll which tabs Buena Vista University to finish ninth.

Loras College, last season's regular season champion, edged out Luther College for the top spot in this year's preseason poll. The two teams finished first and second in the 2022 regular season. Wartburg College earned the final vote to take the third spot following a tie for fourth in last year's regular season.

The Beavers are coming off an 0-8-0 conference season a year ago while going 0-15-2 overall. Now under first-year head coach Kelsey Resnick, BVU is expected to return eight starters from 2022, including senior Marcos Rosales, who played all 17 matches and scored a pair of goals and added two assists. Fellow senior Connor Williams also played all 17 matches and is set to lead the defensive side. 

BVU is set to kickoff its 2023 season on Friday, Sept. 1, at home against Bethany Lutheran College. The team opens its A-R-C schedule on Saturday, Sept. 23, on the road at preseason favorite Loras College.
